Samaritans International was established in 2002 by a small group of men in an attempt to relieve the suffering of small children in Nicaragua, Central America. Through the efforts of Perry Brown, MSUMC supports this group through our giving and our prayers.

The Ugly Quilt Project
The Mineral Springs Quilters in conjunction with the Mission Outreach Committee is looking ahead to the coming fall, winter season. The current economy is likely to make things worse next winter. We are looking for your help. We will be making Ugly Quilts. UGLY QUILTS, sleeping bags made from scrap material for the homeless. How can you help? Look through your linen closet, storage boxes, etc for large pieces of material that you have put away because you did not have time to make anything or the fabric was too good to throw away. We will able to use almost anything. We ask one thing, PLEASE make sure the fabric, etc is clean. We can us the following: old bed spreads, blankets, quilts, drapes, table cloths, large towels, sheets….just to name a few things. Please begin to collect things and we will be providing you with additional information. You may contact and member of the Quilters: Frances Helms, Kathleen Horton, Diane Howie, Lynn Robinson, Betty Sinopoli, or Ann W, David Boyce or any member of the Outreach Committee.
PS…if you have a sewing machine, please give us a call. We would like to have several work meetings.

DOLLAR-A-MONTH-CLUB
The fourth Sunday of every month is designated “Mission Sunday”. When you arrive for Worship a member of the Outreach Committee will give you a “dollar bill” with a paperclip attached. We ask that you attach a dollar to this “dollar” and then place it in the baskets during Service. These gifts will be used for mission outreach. The hope is that all members of the family will receive a blessing from sharing with those less fortunate. Thank you for your support. PS…….you may attach any amount to your “dollar”.
